How it works

Your DAW thinks a console walked in.

Jude creates its own virtual MIDI ports and speaks Mackie Control Universal — the protocol every major DAW already supports for hardware control surfaces. Nothing to install in your DAW, no scripting, no plug-in.

You talk

Native audio capture on any channel of any interface. Local VAD decides when you are really speaking.

Speech to speech

A real-time Alexa-quality voice model answers in your engineer's voice and emits a tool call. Barge in any time — Jude stops mid-sentence.

Virtual surface

The call becomes Mackie Control MIDI or OSC on Jude's own virtual ports — per-DAW dialect and fader law handled.

Your DAW moves

Transport rolls, tracks arm, faders ride. Logic detects Jude at launch; Reaper and Nuendo were verified live.

And back again. Everything the DAW pushes to that imaginary hardware — scribble-strip names, LED states, timecode, motor-fader positions, meters — is captured in a surface model, and that model is ground truth. Jude never assumes a command worked; it reads the confirmation. Grab the mouse mid-session and Jude stays right with you.

Transport, spoken

Record, stop, play, return to start, click and cycle — all by voice, all confirmed by the LED the DAW sends back. The count-in starts while your sticks are still in the air.

A take ledger that keeps up

“Trash that”, “let's keep that one”, “play the last one back”. Jude tracks every pass of the session, so you can stay in the performance and sort it out by talking.

Faders in real dB

“Give me more on the overheads” moves the right strips by a musical amount, with per-DAW fader taper handled and the resulting dB read back to you. Master fader for the room, strips for the mix.

Arm, mute, solo — in groups

“Arm the drums” hits five strips. “Mute everything except the vocal” does exactly that. Group, exclusive and everything-except semantics come standard, across banks.

Metering you can hear about

Per-strip meters with proper ballistics on screen, and answers out loud: “are we clipping?”, “how hot is the snare?”. The meter bridge is instrumentation, not decoration.

Ask it anything about the session

“What channels are configured?”, “what's armed?”, “where are we?”. Anything the interface shows, Jude can say — the engineer is your eyes on the console.

Every DAW speaks its own Mackie or OSC dialect. Jude's drivers were decoded from live captures, not from guesswork — and each one declares exactly what it supports, so nothing in the interface ever pretends.

Accessibility

Built so visual impairment doesn't slow your creativity

Accessibility is not a mode in Jude, it is the architecture. Anything the interface shows is queryable by voice; anything clickable has a voice twin; the engineer answers state questions completely and honestly, including when a DAW cannot do something. A feature ships with its voice path or it does not ship.

If you record without sight, we want to hear from you during the beta — that feedback shapes the product more than any other.
